“In the 1930s a quilter started a project and never finished. This single 60-inch strip of pieced squares was set with vintage pink so it appears to float across the surface of the quilt. I used another vintage pink for the backing. My great-aunt Nellie Horn purchased 6-and-a-half yards of this fabric at the Duckwall Alco Store in Council Grove, Kansas. It cost her 50 cents a yard in early 1950.”
